Photo Tips

You can send us either digital or print photographs. For digital photography, please supply high-resolution JPEG or PNG files; (greater than 500 pixels are the best, please avoid anything less than 300 pixels). 

If you choose to send print photographs, rest assured that we will return these safely to you with the finished portrait.

Please remember that the larger and more clearly defined the photographs are, the better your pet’s portrait will be.

Here are some tips on how you can photograph your pet to achieve the best results:

• Use outdoor or natural lighting; (please avoid placing your pet in the shade).

• Different elements can be used from different photographs. If you desire a custom background, include a few photos of your preferred setting as well.

• We usually omit elements such as collars and leashes unless requested.

• Please take at least four or five pictures – they need to be in focus and clear. At least one of them should have the posture you want captured in the painting.                             

• Also, the photos should show details such as fur color, eye color, and markings, and most importantly, they should express your dog’s personality!

• If you are planning to have your dog’s picture professionally taken, please make sure to ask the photographer for copyright permission.
